Taiwan's machine tool industry has gone through a long period of development. Although it has established itself as the fourth largest exporter of precision machinery in the world, its products have been stuck at the mid-grade level for a long time, and its gross profit margin has been declining day by day. It has also become a major hidden concern for industrial development. In view of this, the ITRI Machinery Research Institute has decided to call on the industry to jointly invest in the development of flagship models of wire cutting machines in the near future, so as to leap into the high-end machine tool market, and then spread the common technology to machining centers and other products to meet various needs. The effect of the breakthrough is that in three to five years, the image of Taiwan's machine tool industry is expected to be cleaned up and foreigners will give a thumbs up.

Zhang Canhui, leader of the Machinery Research Institute of ITRI, pointed out that machine tool products cover a wide range of products, including machining centers, lathes, milling machines, electrical discharge machines, punches, etc., but wire cutting machines will be chosen as the first step in a plan to comprehensively improve the quality of machine tools.
