Precision Machinery R&D Center (PMC), a legal person consortium, held the first meeting of the fifth board of directors and supervisors yesterday (Tuesday), and successfully elected five managing directors and one standing supervisor. Wang Wuxiong, chairman of Qinghong Mechanical and Electrical, who is well-known in the industry, was elected as chairman.

For the first time, the current PMC board members include Yan Zhongcun, vice president of Chimei Electronics who are not in the machinery industry, and Huang Hanbang, deputy dean of the National Taiwan University College of Engineering, symbolizing the future R&D energy of the Precision Machinery Center. It will cooperate with government policies to significantly expand into emerging industries such as TFT-LCD equipment and robots, and achieve the vision goal of China's machinery industry output value reaching one trillion yuan in 2008.

After taking over as the chairman of PMC, Wang Wuxiong pointed out that in order to achieve the goal of China's machinery output value jumping to one trillion yuan in 2008, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has proposed doubling the output value of machine tools, flat panel display process equipment and smart technology. Three major projects including the robot industry; PMC will fully devote all its staff to the project under the unshirkable responsibility.
